Project Overview

Grant Avenue Bridge Rehabilitation (CIP 09-003)

Description :

Widen and rehabilitate the existing bridge to accommodate bike lanes and sidewalks, replace substandard bridge railings, and stabilize the banks and channel of Novato Creek to minimize scouring of bridge foundations.

Location:

Grant Avenue between 8th Street and Virginia Avenue.

Benefit:

Improves streetscape conditions and safety of pedestrians, bicyclists and motorists.

Schedule:

Construction work is anticipated to start in 2019/2020, and should last approximately 6 months.

Cost:

$2,400,000 including a $2,000,000 federal Highway Bridge Program grant.


Status Update 3/26/19:

Engineering design is now 95% complete and is anticipated to be finalized in 2019. The right-of-way process is underway, utility companies completed relocation of their facilities. CEQA Mitigated Negative Declaration  and Mitigation and Monitoring Program were adopted by City Council and applications were submitted to permitting agencies.

Status Update 3/1/18: Engineering design is now 65% and is anticipated to be finalized in 2018. The right-of-way process is also underway, and utility companies are in the process of relocating their facilities.
