The Novato Police Department serves our community of 55,000+ residents, along with our visitors and guests, by providing professional and proactive street Patrol, Investigations, Traffic enforcement, Narcotics enforcement, a 911 dispatch center, and emergency services and preparedness. As a full service agency, Novato Police is divided into the Operations Division and the Administrative Services Division,  supervised by a Police Lieutenant. There are approximately 80 staff in the department including 60 sworn personnel, and a robust volunteer program.

ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES DIVISION 

The Administrative Services Division is responsible for the technical support elements of the department, which include: 

  • Communications
  • Personnel and Training
  • Records 
  • Evidence
  • Crime Prevention Bureau
  • Facilities Management

The Novato Police Department maintains its own Police Dispatch Center. Dispatchers receive and handle calls (9-1-1 & Business calls), 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
