Atherton Place involves the development of 50 townhomes and 1,360 square-feet of retail space on a vacant 3.60 acre site. Proposed buildings are arranged in twelve blocks and are two- and three-stories (up to 38-feet high). The townhomes would be for-sale market rate units with the retail space available for lease. A total of 145 parking spaces are provided onsite. Nineteen on-street parking spaces are currently proposed. The applicant is proposing to pay a fee in-lieu of providing affordable units in Atherton Place. Atherton Place is subject to state subdivision laws and a prior version of Novato’s Affordable Housing Ordinance that exempt the project from constructing affordable units.
