Building inspection requests must be submitted in the Novato Permit Portal. Inspections can only be scheduled for ISSUED permits. Any person(s) requesting an inspection must be a listed contact in that permit record.
To access the self-schedule inspection portal:
- Please create an account or log in to your existing account.

- Select "My Inspections" and follow the on-screen prompts.
All construction must be inspected before it is covered. Please ask your building inspector, at time of permit issuance, what inspections are needed for your project. The Building Division strives to provide next-day inspections, if possible. Occasionally, heavy inspection loads prevent next day inspections.
The Inspection Portal will not permit inspections to be scheduled on City non-working days and holidays, or if the inspection workload is heavy. The next available business day will be offered first.
Authorized Construction Hours:
• Monday through Friday – 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
• Saturdays – 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
• No Construction on Sundays or Official Federal Holidays
