City Seeks Local Artists for 2025-2026 Utility Box Art Program

Post Date:11/06/2025 4:30 PM

The City of Novato Parks, Recreation & Community Services Department is inviting local artists to submit designs for the second year of Novato's Utility Box Art Program. Following the successful completion of seven utility box artworks along Grant Avenue in spring 2025, the program is expanding with seven new locations.

Under the theme "Where Stories Grow," artists are invited to capture the essence of what makes Novato special through artwork that showcases the ongoing narrative of our city.

Artists can draw inspiration from:

  • Natural Beauty: Parks, trails, open spaces, and native wildlife
  • Local Traditions: Farmers' markets, seasonal celebrations, and neighborhood connections
  • Heritage and Legacy: Historic sites and pivotal moments from Novato's past
  • Community Character: The pride and inclusive spirit that makes Novato distinctive

Selected artists will receive up to $1,000 in reimbursement for materials and supplies. While submissions are welcome from all artists, priority consideration will be given to Novato residents.

Applications must include a completed form, conceptual rendering, and up to three images of prior work. Applicants under 18 years of age require a parent/guardian signature.

Application deadline: Friday, February 22, 2026
