Council to Consider Labor Agreement with SEIU

Post Date:10/09/2025 2:03 PM

At its upcoming meeting on Tuesday, October 14, the Novato City Council will consider approval of a labor agreement for SEIU-represented employees, which include city maintenance workers, building inspectors, parks and recreation coordinators, planners and office assistants.

The SEIU contract is the final outstanding agreement among the City’s employee groups. SEIU-represented employees recently voted to ratify the contract with 87% approval.

The proposed three-year agreement includes the same base terms already implemented with the City’s other employee groups:

  • Base salary increase of 11% over three years.
  • Up to an additional 13% equity adjustment to move positions closer to market median.
  • Continued 100% coverage of medical benefits for employees and their families.

The agreement also includes enhancements to bilingual and longevity pay, reinforcing the City’s investment in employee retention and workforce stability.

“Supporting our employees strengthens both our workforce and our community,” said City Manager Amy Cunningham. “We’re pleased to have reached an agreement with SEIU that recognizes the dedication and expertise of our employees. This agreement strikes a balance between fair, competitive compensation with the City’s commitment to long-term financial stability.”

If approved by the City Council, pay increases for SEIU members would be effective October 5, 2025.
