Novato Park Restrictions and Closures Effective May 4
On April 29, 2020, the County of Marin ordered an extension of the current Shelter in Place order through May 31 while reducing some restrictions already in place. This new order includes an extension of the Park Closure Order with some exceptions that will take effect on Monday, May 4, 2020. These measures remain in place to continue to protect the health and safety of our community.
Per this new order, Novato’s parks and open space remain closed to motorized access, except for disabled individuals with vehicles possessing current and valid disabled person parking placards or license plates. “Disabled Parking Only” signage will remain posted at the parking lot entrances of Novato’s four largest parks: Pioneer, Miwok, Hoog and Hamilton Amphitheater, as well as the Novato Skate Park.
On Monday, May 4, Novato’s skate park, ball fields and courts will reopen. Community members may play sports in small groups as long as they do not share a ball or equipment with anyone outside of their own household.
Please continue to avoid traveling by car, and instead walk, bike or use other non-motorized means to get to your local outdoor recreation area. Keep in mind that per Marin’s County’s Order, the following areas remain closed to the public:
- Dog parks
- Parking lots at all public parks, except for disabled individuals possessing current and valid placards or plates
- Picnic areas
- Park restrooms
Please continue to practice social distancing and wear required face coverings in public settings. Marin’s Public Health Order concerning use of face coverings does not presently have an end date and will remain in place until further notice.
Thank you for continuing to do your part to help your community.
