Novato Hometown Heroes Celebrated

Post Date:05/23/2019 9:00 AM

As part of our ongoing Novato Proud campaign, the City salutes our Hometown Heroes with the installation of lamp post banners along Grant Avenue featuring portraits of service men and women who live and work in Novato. This is the second year local veterans will be featured in Downtown Novato, and this year, the City has added 60 new Hometown Heroes.

The lamp post banners, designed and produced by local Novato businesses Kiosk and Centric Signs, are installed on Grant Avenue prior to Memorial Day and will stay up through Veterans Day. These banners will be displayed each year from May through November.

“Memorial Day honors those who have made the greatest sacrifice for our nation,” notes Regan Candelario, City Manager. “It also reminds us that those brave servicemen and women have colleagues and comrades who live and work among us today in our communities. We’re proud to be able to thank these heroes for their service, and reflect upon the contributions they have made, and continue to make, every day.”

Novato Proud is a civic initiative highlighting notable people and innovative businesses who call Novato home. No one deserves our hometown pride more than those who have served our country. They lead by example, make good neighbors, and they contribute to what makes Novato a vibrant community.

If you are a Novato Veteran that would like to be featured in our online gallery, or know someone who is, we'd love to hear from you!
