Novato Creek Maintenance Sediment Removal Project

Post Date:07/22/2016 1:08 PM

The Marin County Flood Control & Water Conservation District (contracting with Great Lakes Environment & Infrastructure Solutions) will begin flood protection work in Novato on July 25 and continue through October. Work will occur only on weekdays between 8am-5pm as part of continuing efforts to improve flows in flood-prone areas.

This work will include sediment removal for three Novato Creeks--the lower reaches of Novato, Warner, and Arroyo Avichi Creeks from Diablo Avenue near the downtown area to just downstream of the railroad tracks off Rowland Way, just behind the Century Rowland Plaza movie theater.

Some dredged material will be placed on District-owned lands near Slade Park. This work will require trucks hauling material to use Davidson St. and the City of Novato Corp yard. Empty trucks will pass through Slade Park to Louis Dr. and Davidson St.

Work is currently scheduled to occur from July 25 – October 31, 2016 on weekdays between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Residents are asked to not park their cars on Louis Dr. during the day when crews are working. Please be aware of trucks passing through the neighborhood and using the entrance to Slade Park. Slade Park will remain open to the public.

During this work, there may be temporary impacts to the area including noise from the work and heavy equipment. Dump trucks hauling soil and dredged material will be using the Slade park entrance via Louis Drive to access District lands southeast of the area (see maps below).
